Meet Founder of Poco Music, Maria

Maria Fakitopoulos is the founder of Poco Music School, a renowned institution dedicated to providing musical education. She completed her Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne, where she specialised in Classical Guitar and Piano.

With a career spanning over 25 years, Maria is a passionate Music Educator and Musician. She has served as a Private Instrumental Tutor in various prestigious schools, teaching Guitar and Bass Guitar, as well as leading Guitar and Rock Band Ensembles and Songwriting classes.

Maria's journey as a music teacher began at the young age of 18, and it was her deep love for music that inspired her to establish Poco Music School. Her dedication and commitment have led the school to great success, with multiple locations across 10 different primary schools and an after-school program at the main Poco Music location.

As both a Music Educator and Musician, Maria's wealth of knowledge and experience allows her to guide her students in a comprehensive and engaging manner. She believes in the power of music to transform lives and is dedicated to empowering her students to reach their full musical potential.

Our Programs

Music Lessons

From guitar to piano, vocals to drums We offer instrumental lessons during after-school hours at our music school, as well as during school hours at 10 primary schools in the the local Kingston & Bayside areas.

Songwriting & Recording Classes

At Poco Music School, we believe in the power of creativity and self-expression. That's why we also offer songwriting and recording classes, allowing students to explore their musicality and develop their own unique sound.

Ensemble/Band Program

Students have the opportunity to become involved in the ensemble/band program. This program runs separately from individual lessons and introduces students to another important aspect of instrumental performance.

Annual Concerts

At the end of the School Year we hold our End of Year concerts for all Primary Schools and our after School Hour Students showcasing their performance and musical skills learnt over the school year.
